Rare deep-sea fish washed up on coast in California

An Oarfish about 17 feet long has washed up on the coast of California. Such fish reside in the extreme depths of the ocean below 1000 and 3000 feet below the surface where sunlight or any light exists. It is very rare to see such fish washed up on shore but has occurred before in the same area before. Previously a fish nearly 50 feet long was found along the same strip of coastline.
