Political Prisoners Fast unto Death

Prisoners arrested and detained without framing any charges  under PTA as far back as 2013 are on fast unto death campaign.

Two prisoners in Anuradhapura Prison started their  fast on last  Monday, and now the news received state that 14 political prisoners in Colombo Magazine prison too started their fast on last Tuesday. They were arrested in the years 2013,2014 and 2015. They were repeatedly produced in courts on more than 32 occasions. Three of them are rehabilitated LTTE suspects, who were rearrested and detained.

Rev.Father M.Skthivel, who heads the campaign demanding release of these prisoners visited the prison and said that their condition is deteriorating and they are very weak. They are unable to stand on their own, he said

Political Parties, TNA and JVP insisted that either they be issued with charge sheet and prosecuted or released forth with.Every time political prisoners resort to fast campaign, politicians visit them and assure their release. but nothing happened, they say.

Justice delayed is justice denied.
