Consumer Week Celebrations First Time in Srilanka- Brain Child of Rishad

Minister of  Industry and Commerce, Rishad Badiudeen  in a press conference held at the Office of the Consumer Protection Authority  said that first time in Srilanka, consumer week is declared from 14th to 20th  March  2016. Over 60 business  organizations have extended their fullest cooperation to make this consumer week a success in Srilanka, Minister said. More than 1000 consumer goods will be made available on easy purchasing terms along with special discounts during this week island wide. Consumers can make use of this golden opportunity to obtain their needs at affordable prices during this week.

Traders Unions, Super Markets, Pharmacies, Textile shops, Jewelry shops, Electronic goods dealers, building materials dealers etc. expressed their willingness to participate in this consumer week, which is coordinated by the Consumer Protection Authority of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. I am really proud to announce that these business organization come forward on their own to participate in this consumer week. This itself is a great success. Minister said.

On the 15th March 2016,  a human rights seminar is organized at Kandy. Key subject of the seminar  is “Consumer’s Human Rights”. University students, Teachers,School students, House wives. Government servants and public are invited to participate in this seminar. Stage dramas, Posters and  Hand bills  are part of the awareness propaganda planned to carry out on 15th March 2016.For students, there will be competition for essay writing and poster competition. Winners will be awarded.
