Merging of BBS, Sinhala Ravya and Ravana Balaya

In a press conference addressed by leaders and national organizers of BBS, Sinhala Ravaya and Ravana Balaya at Kirulapone Buddhist Center, Sinhala Ravaya – Akmeemana Dayaratne explained the circumstances, which led to amalgamate all three organisations. He said, people are asking why Buddhist Monks instead of preaching religion within the temple premises, coming to the street and shouting slogans.

In the Legislature, Tamil and Muslim MPs raise their voices on behalf of the people they represent. We are not against it. But our regret is that Sinhala MPs do not raise their voices on behalf of Sinhala Buddhists. Our problems are increasing day by day. In order to act as one voice for Sinhala Buddhists, all three organisations are merged today, he said.

Our native places, archaeological areas are captured by Muslims. In Kooragala (Jailani), Devenagala and Muhudu Vihara religious areas are destroyed by other religious factions. Muslims have captured these areas.

In the East, Buddhist archaeological areas were destroyed by using Peco machines. There is an act on archaeological. But no action is taken against violators.

We cannot just sit and witness these destruction and capturing religious areas by other religious factions. Hence, we request Mahanayaka Theros too to intervene in this matter.

Merged new from will be strengthened at grass root level by coordinating Buddhist religious organisations in those areas. Further, we understand that there is a move remove the foremost important given to the Buddhist religion in the constitution. If that happened, we won’t allow the MPs to come to their constituencies after they vote in favour of such decision, he said.
