Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will chair a meeting on the island-wide power blackout which affected the entire island for over 8 hours yesterday.
Power and Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya is scheduled to chair a meeting on power failure. Followed by this a meeting is scheduled meet with the PM on yesterday’s power failure.
An explosion in the Biyagama substation was thought to be the reason for the blackout. However, the Ministry said that a probe will be carried out on the incident. Man made explosion or natural explosion is yet to be detected. Since this is the third major power failure with in six month, sabotage cannot be completely.
