Shashi Weerawansa before Colombo Magistrate’s Court today.

Shashi Weerawansa obtained  a passport  by providing false documents.

Shashi Weerawansa was arrested on the 22nd of February last year for the possessing a passport obtained on false documents.

She was later released on bail on the 27th of February 2015 on a cash bail of 15,000 rupees and 2 surety bails of 500,000 rupees.

The Assistant Commissioner of the Department of Registration of Persons informed court that Shashi Weerawansa was in possession of two national identity cards that cited her date of birth as the 1st of February 1967 and the second issued on the 3rd of February 1971.

A report  on  handwriting of the wife of MP Wimal Weerawansa, Shashi Weerawansa, was called and  is due to be tabled before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today.

The order was issued by Court to the Criminal Investigations Department.
