Some of the Senior SLFP members believe that since Rajapaksas have become a major factor in country’s politics, without Rajapaksas involvement, SLFP future victories are not certain.
Hence, they proposed to give an important position in the SLFP Party to former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Their decision will be conveyed to Party Leader Maithripala Sirisena in near future.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been chosen over Mahinda Rajapaksa based on several factors, sources said. Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s corruption record is less than his elder brothe , mahinda and is widely recognized for his pivotal role in ending the civil war and carrying out urban development.
