Energy Ministry Officials Summoned Before COPE
The Secretary of the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, the Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board and its Board of Directors have been summoned before the Parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises.
The officials were summoned to inquire into the recent power failures experienced in the island.
Nearly 23 Officers of the CEB are due to give their explanation before the COPE.
They will be questioned over the lack of prevention of such incidents, the reason behind the power failure and steps taken to ensure such events do not reoccur.
Chairman of COPE, MP Sunil Handunneththi said, the CEB representatives who were summoned on a prior occasion did not cooperate with the Committee.
