Groom disappears on wedding night family and police baffled

Reports regarding a groom abandoning his wife on their honeymoon and disappearing in to the night were published recently throughout the media. New facts have surfaced regarding the matter but clear evidence to back the grooms motives are yet to be uncovered.

The couple in the Delthota area in Kandy married each other after a courtship of nearly one and a half years recently.

The couple then proceeded to a hotel in the area in hope to spend their honeymoon.

The wife reports to waking up in the middle of the night to an empty bed and room. Distressed and confused she called her parents who then proceeded to look for the missing groom with the help of the Police.

Acting on a tip the Police located the groom wandering aimlessly on the road. The wife’s family is accusing the groom and his family of him having a mental ailment and it being concealed from them.

No actual evidence has come into light that he Is suffering from a mental sickness, but it is believed that he was distressed because of a physical problem but this cannot be confirmed and the problem dissolved till the groom is assessed by  a doctor.
