President, Maithreepala while addressing Ceylon Administrative Service Officers Union convention held at Nelum Pokkuna yesterday, said that he was politically victimized. As a result, today I became the President of Srilanka. he proposed to appoint a committee to look into the political victimization of Public officers. some officers in the Public service are reluctant to sign documents fearing that they may have to face FCID inquiries. any officer who does his/her duty honestly need not worry about facing FCID. Public Officers working for the benefit of the public will be protected by the government.
He further related an instance where a monk said thus” a King must eat King’s food , but President Maithree doesn’t know to enjoy this benefit”. But still I used to take my lunch from home on a plantain leaf and eat. i don’t want to be a King. I wanted to be a man of the common man. I expect to serve the public. Public officers should help us to deliver their good services under Good governance.
