President of the National Consumer Rights Protection Campaign, Ranjith Widanage said that today (1st April), they propose to lodge a complaint with the United Nations Organization in Srilanka against Consumer Protection Authority, as they failed in their duty to protect consumers.
As the Consumer Protection Authority has failed in their duty to ensure consumer rights and safeguard the lives of consumers, they resorted to this action, he said.
Control price of goods in the market has not been efficiently monitored and controlled. Further, when complaints were lodged with the Consumer Protection Authority, they failed to examine it on an accelerated basis, he charged.
