1st Time Parliament Convene as a Constitutionals Council

Parliament will convene today as a Constitutional Council for the first time to select and appoint MPs to various positions.It was proposed to appoint seven Deputy Chairmen for the Constitutional Council during the first meeting.

An Operations Committee comprising the Prime Minister, Speaker of House, Opposition Leader, Justice Minister and 17 other members of the Constitutional Council will also be appointed.

In the meantime , JVP has extended  its fullest support for the smooth operation  of the Constitutional Council.

JVP MP Vijitha Herath said the party will support the Constitutional Council by voicing its suggestions and views for a new Constitution.
