Bandaranaike’s son to join the Political arena?

Former Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake’s son Shaveen Bandaranayake Kariyawasam recently came into the public eye with a reply he had made to Namal Rajapkse’s post,

“My mother and brothers who never entered politics have become the prey of the “Yahapaalanaya””.

Shaveen Bandaranayake in response questioned “When your regime was in place you dragged my whole family who never had any contact whatsoever with politics to the courts every week to answer to Bribes Commission. You used media influence as a large smear campaign to discredit my mother giving undue media coverage to false allegations.”

He further stated in an interview with Mawbima “ the current political framework is at the brink of a major shift, this shift will allow even people like me to enter into mainstream politics. There is no room for People like me in the current political situation here and when the needed change comes you will be able to see me in Parliament.”

When question whether his mother Shirani Bandaranayake would enter Politics he responded by saying that a person as talented as her would be very valuable to the country, and that she never left this country even in the face of so much pressure simply because she loved her homeland.”
