Gotabaya in Trouble for Providing Excess Armed Security to Basil

Presidential Commission on Bribery and Corruption has summoned Gotabaya to probe into a complaint made that he misused his official position as Defence Secretary, and allocated 179 armed men from three forces and police for Basil’s security during Mahinda era. Further, Basil’s wife was provided with 3 navy women cadres. Adding fuel to fire, armed security forces was detailed to undertake cleaning duties in basil’s house.

This security contingent is in excess of security personnel assigned to a Minister at that time. To inquire into this matter, Gotabaya was summoned to appear before the Presidential commission on bribery and corruption on 18^th April 2016.
