Despite Statements from 100 Recorded, Culprits of Firearms Theft in Laggala not yet Identified
While three policemen were on duty, a person entered the Laggala Police Station at 1.00 am on the 14th, opened the storage box of firearms using the correct key found inside the police and fled with the firearms.
The T-56 firearm and 5 Revolvers stolen from the Laggala police were found from the premises of Sanda-gala Vihara in Walle-le-wela ,near a water tank of the temple, which is located 5 kilometers away from the Laggala Police
Recovered firearms have been brought to the CID for further investigations.
Police says that statements have been recorded from 100 persons, which included a gem businessman and two police constables.
Media spokesman office revealed that they intend to obtain fingerprints on the firearms and arrest the suspects in connection with the robbery.
Police have not yet collected sufficient information regarding the suspect who committed the robbery.In meantime the police headquarters interdicted three officers who were on duty at the time of the incident.
