10 Percent Increase in University Intake for the New Year
For the new academic year, the University Grants Commission (UGC) will increase the number of undergraduates by 10 percent said ,UGC Chairman Prof. Mohan de Silva
Accordingly, 27,603 students will be enrolled for various undergraduate courses conducted at 15 universities and 18 higher educational institutions for the new academic year.
“Last year the figure was 25,200 and therefore this is an increase of 10 percent,” he said. Meanwhile, the UGC will issue applications for recruiting new undergraduates for the next academic year on April 24.
Students who passed the Advanced Level Examinations held in August last year and qualified are eligible to apply. The student hand book will also be issued to the potential recruits that day, the Chairman said.
