Homagama Magistrate File Case Against Gnanasara Thera on Contempt of Court
Followed by a commotion created at the Homagama Court premises by Bodh Bala Sena, Gnanasara Thera was remanded over the incident on January 26, but was later released on bail. While releasing the Thera on bail in February, the Magistrate said that he would refer this case to the Court of Appeal.
As a follow up step, Homagama Magistrate, Ranga Dissanayake has filed a contempt of court petition against Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera, seeking its opinion on whether a contempt of court case could be heard at the Appeals Court against the monk.
