Hongqiao Airport Basement Fire Cost  Two Lives

Chinese media reported on Friday that A fire in a basement at the Shanghai Hongqiao airport has killed two people and injured at least three.

The fire broke out in the basement of terminal one at the airport at around 7am local time (2300 GMT Thursday) while an underground renovation project was in progress. However operations are carried out as usual.

“There’s been no impact on airport operations,” said an airport official who said he was responsible for traveller inquiries.

In a separate report citing the Shanghai fire department, China Central Television (CCTV) said the fire was extinguished.
