Earlier, the Defence Secretary has announced that Army security provided to Mahinda would be removed. However, after an important meeting with the SLFP, President ordered not to remove it.
Cabinet spokesman, Rajitha Senaratne said that during the last Cabinet Meeting, President Maithreepala Sirisena has informed that the military security provided to Mahinda Rajapakshe will be removed as from 1st May 2016. This is in accordance with the policy of the Government not to assign army security to politicians in Srilanka.
