Regarding Controversial Statement by Media Secy on Joint Opposition PM Called Minister,Deputy and Secy for a Meeting

Media Ministry Secretary,Nimal Bopage issued a  guide to Media Institutions regarding  the use of the term Joint Opposition in medias.This has created  controversy  among the media personnel. Immediately after it media Minister said that it was not the government’s stunt or stand but his private views.

However the Prime Minister issuing a statement said the government has no intention of restricting the use of the term Joint Opposition.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe decided to inquire into the statement issued by the Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media Nimal Bopage.

Premier has summoned a meeting between the Minister of Media, Deputy Minister and Secretary to the Ministry of Media today.
