In his May Day address President said:

  1. There are 49 May Day meetings held throughout the Island. But highest number of people attended in Galle meeting , Police reported
  2. This May Day at Galle is the base to establish future SLFP Government
  3. Working class should be provided with sufficient opportunities
  4. Government was able to resolve several issues of workers during last year
  5. Two years back, fish export ban and GSP withdrawal were experienced by Srilanka. We were able to restore fish export ban and gazette is being published today. GSP will be restored in few weeks.
  6. All should get together irrespective of politics, race, and religion to make this country a successful country.
  7. The country is indebted to 8 lakhs and 50 thousand billion. Country faces 26 years war. In 1950 and 1960, Federal proposal came up. We should ask our self, what the main course for this proposal was. Then only a solution could be found to make this country prosperous for all communities
