Nimal Bopage to Continue as Media Secretary – President

Followed by a statement issued by the Media, Ministry Secretary prohibiting the use of Joint opposition wording , several media organizations and politicians criticized it. Immediately Media Minister  issued a statement disassociating with Secretary’s views  and declared that it was not the stunt of the Government.

Subsequently, the Prime Minister had a meeting with the Media Minister, Deputy Media Minister and the Secretary on this matter. He has given guidelines to the Secretary as  how to operate in that post in   future. He promised to follow instructions of the Minister.

In the meantime news spread like wild fire that UPFA politicians have made representation to the President and the Prime Minister to remove him from his position.

Now the President has decided to retain his services.
