Digambaram and Mano Ganesan against 20 A

Both Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) leader Mano Ganesan and Estate Infrastructure Minister Palani Digambaram stated that they would vote against the 20th Amendment when its presented in Parliament.

Digambaram explained his view point being at a mismatch with that of the government and that he fails to see how a multi- member seat in the Nuwara Eliya District is possible if the number of MPs is not increased up to 255 as proposed in the original draft. He also admits he finds it hard to accept the assurances of the Government but states that he will not leave the government as this is his personal view over a single incident.

He explained his thoughts saying that Minority parties might not get a chance to nominate their representatives if the Major parties are making such decisions.

Mano Ganesan also expresses his lack of faith toward the electoral reforms in the context that the Minorities will lack proper representation.

He stated that he is scheduled to meet with PM Rani Wickramasinghe and President Sirisena to discuss these matters on Thursday (11).
