Voluntary Retirement for 5000 SLTB Office Staff

Deputy Transport Minister, Ashok Abeysinghe said the SLTB has 36,700 employees with 5,500 buses in operation. To maintain this they require only 4,700 office staff but 9,700 are now in servicer. He intends to submit a Cabinet paper to offer them a Voluntary Retirement Scheme and send them home happily and peacefully. Attractive compensation of Rs1.2 and Rs2.5 million will be paid to them depending on their service, he said.
