Change Food to Save the Birds (Video)

The world’s bird population is in severe decline. More than three quarters of this decline can be attributed to our current farming practices.

The near total destruction of wildlife’s natural habitats is just one of the unacceptable side effects of mono cultural agriculture and intensive farming. Species that depend on farmland are 50% more likely to be in serious decline than birds that live in other areas. If we are going to save the birds, Mike Clarke, Chief Executive of the RSPB argues that True Cost Accounting can aid us in the need to build a new narrative for our broken food system. We need to adapt our food systems so that they contribute to the true wealth of nations, one where the balance sheet for natural capital is positive.
