Work on Rajagiriya flyover project start in July 2016 & End by Jan. 2018

As an interim solution to the total traffic  problem in  Battaramulla to Colombo through Rajagiriya and Borella route, the Government will soon start work on the Rajagiriya Flyover, Deputy Foreign Minister Dr Harsha de Silva said. The  planned project is scheduled to begin in July 2016 and end in January 2018, according to him. This flyover will be between Battaramulla and Lotus Tower {Nelum Pokkuna).
This will be a 4 traffic lane  4 road service with the length of 534 LM, width 19.7 M and vertical 5.20 M starting from Battaramulla.
This will save 50% of time now spent from Nelum Pokuna to Battaramulla and saving on fuel thus reducing pollution.
Work is scheduled to begin in July 2016 and end in January 2018. The project is financed via a soft loan from the Government of Spain.
For this I fought for a long time and I am very happy that finally we will see construction begin,” the Deputy Minister said in a statement today.
