The National Building Research Organisation said, that it will investigate 84 minor landslides reported in Kegalle district.
Head of the Landslide Research and Risk Management Division RMS Bandara said 24 minor landslides were reported in Ratnapura, 36 in Kandy, 7 in Matale, 11 in Badulla and 8 in Kalutara.
He said the NBRO extended the landslide warning issued last afternoon.
He said the warning was issued in respect of the Kegalle, Ratnapura, Nuwara-Eliya, Kandy, Matale and Kalutara districts.
RMS Bandara added rain fall in the Badulla and Monaragala districts have reduced.
Commenting on the possibility of further landslides RMS Bandara said the NBRO cannot specify times adding in the wake of a possible landslide the public of the respective divisional secretariat are informed.
However the Head of the Landslide Research and Risk Management Division said with the prevalent rainy condition the NBRO announced that Aranayake too was a landslide risk area.
Bandara stressed that the public should cooperate with authorities and those residing in mountainous areas should remain vigilant.
