Establishment of an Office for People Disappeared

During last September, United Nations Human Rights Commission has passed a resolution brought by America on Srilanka, which was cosponsored by Srilanka.   One of the undertakings of Srilanka is that an office would be established to deal with the cases of disappearances in Srilanka.

32nd UN Human Rights conference is scheduled to be held on 13th June 2016.  As a follow up action, Prime Minister has submitted a bill in Parliament to pass relevant law. The Srilankan Cabinet has given approval for Prime Minister’s proposal to establish an office for people disappeared. This office will deal with all issues of disappearances.
