Reason for Gampaha Flood

In order to reserve more water in Thandugam water reserve to enable landing and taking off of sea plane, its bund was raised with sand. This raised sand bund blocked natural water flow during rainy season.

During recent incessant rain water flow was blocked by this bund. this Thandugam water reserve is no more used for landing sea plane. These facts were brought to the notice of the President, who in turn ordered the army to remove blocking bund and make water flow to normalcy.

Army has been deployed on the job yesterday.
