Health Ministry Contribute Rs. 2.6 Million to Flood Affected People

Disaster Preparedness and Response Division National Coordinator Dr. H.D.B.Herath said that the Health Ministry has provided Rs. 2.6 million as emergency funds for flood affected areas during the past 10 days.
About 106 health teams were deployed from state hospitals, while 941 health staff, including doctors, nurses and pharmacists, are conducting mobile health clinics in all affected areas.
He said the division is open 24 hours with a team of health professionals and supportive staff. About 53 vehicles have been mobilised for flood related activity activities from the Health Ministry.
Dr. Herath said essential drugs have been dispatched along with mobile health teams to flood affected areas. Emergency medical kits containing 84 drugs have been deployed.
Fogging was conducted through the National Dengue Control Unit while health education messages to get community participation for destroying mosquito breeding sites were distributed, he said.
