Bail Granted to Priyath Bandu Wickrama & 2 Others

Former Chairman of the Ports Authority ,Priyath Bandu Wickrama and two other officers have been granted bail on charges of deploying employees for political activities.
The order was issued by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya.
The trio was released on surety bails of five million rupees each.
The former Chairman and two others are accused of causing a 65 million rupee loss to the government by deploying 319 employees of the Ports Authority for election propaganda activities during the period leading up to the 2015 Presidential Election.
The case was filed against the trio by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
The suspects have been prohibited from travelling overseas, while they have been demanded to appear before the Court Registrar once a month.
The case will be heard once again on the 28th of September.
