Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala & Yohan Peiris Arrived in The Island

The first ever Sri Lankan to summit the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala and her assistant Yohan Peiris arrived in the country last night
They were  welcomed at the airport by Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe and his wife Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe.
Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala, who started the trek to the summit with fellow climber Yohan Peiris, set history on 21 May as the first Sri Lankan to summit the formidable mountain at 29,029 feet.
