EP Chief Minister Writes to President & PM

The Chief Minister of the Eastern Province, Naseer Ahamed has written to the President and Prime Minister explaining the details of the recent incident which had taken place at the Sampur Maha Vidyalaya in the Eastern Provincial Council.
In the letter, the Chief Minister had said he would not hesitate to express his unequivocal regret and apologies to all those who were present at the ceremony – including the staff & students of the school, the foreign dignitary and the concerned naval officer – for his strong but justifiable reaction which had led to the said incident.
He also added that the responsible officers too should apologize in the best interest of the country.
Citing that the said school was not a national school, the Chief Minister has blamed the Governor for not following proper protocol during the function which was organized by the school.
Further explaining the details, the Chief Minister said, that his and the Education Minister’s names were not announced by the compeer at the function who was the English teacher of the school.
Elaborating further, the Chief Minister added that the Governor, perhaps noticing the lapse, had signalled at him to come up on stage.
At this point, the Chief Minister states that he was physically obstructed from taking his place on stage by a naval officer who was acting as a ‘master of ceremonies’ whose actions he had questioned.
In his letter addressed to the President and Prime Minister, the Chief Minister has also condemned the decision of the tri-forces to boycott functions attended by him even before the Head of State had looked into the matter citing it as a political decision by the forces.
