Assistant Secretary of the GMOA Dr. Nalinda Herath requested politicians to refrain from interfering in promotions and transfers of medical officers.
He said transfers should be carried out based on approvals granted by relevant authorities.
The Government Medical Officers Association says the strike action planned for tomorrow will go ahead if officials fail to address issues connected with transfers of doctors by the end of the day.
Dr. Nalinda Herath said an all-island strike will be launched tomorrow(31), if the demands of the GMOA are ignored.
He however said the strike will not be in effect in areas affected by the recent flood and landsli disaster situation.
Furthermore, Dr. Herath said emergency services will not be affected by the strike.
