JVP launched Island wide Protest Against VAT Increase

The JVP has just commenced an island wide protest issuing hand bills/ leaflets  explaining the back ground  in increasing VAT. In opening the campaign at Fort Railway Station, Tilvin Silva said, that the Government which blamed Rajapaksha’s regime for plundering national wealth, wasting Srilankan assets, misusing official power, destroying national economy and indebting  Srilanka with heavy loans is now following the foot steps of Rajapaksha. Just before the election, they said the man walking on the street will be able to buy and drive a car on his own and promised three times food for people is now  engaged in bringing burden to the people.
