On the other hand , the Government also has taken steps to ensure defeat of this no confidence motion. All government MPs have been banned from travelling abroad, as a no-confidence motion against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake is due to be taken up in Parliament on 8 June.
The Chief Government Whip’s office has instructed all government MPs to be present in the House on 8 June and the President and Prime Minister have personally called several MPs who were to go abroad.

In the meantime,Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake yesterday said the No-Confidence Motion (NCM) brought against him, which will be debated in Parliament on 8th, will also test the government’s popularity.
In the no confidence motion, Ravi Karunanayake alleged to have misled the Parliament with false information and lost the confidence along with falling foreign reserves, failure on economic development and foreign investors lost confidence in investing in Srilanka.
The Joint Opposition is insane enough to bring in such a No-Confidence Motion at a time like this, when we are concentrating on developing the country, but it is also good, as it would test the popularity of the government and ourselves,” Karunanayake said.
Will Ravi Karunanayake survive from this no confidence motion?.
