Blockage of Colombo- Awissawella Road

In close proximity to Salawa Army Camp the protesters are demonstrating and demanding the clearance of debris from their homes prior to opening the road. A tense situation was also erupted yesterday as residents of the area blocked the road for few hours demanding the immediate clearance of debris.

However, Sri Lanka Army announced yesterday that it has commenced the renovation of damaged houses, removal of debris of the Kosgama fire, cleaning of the affected water resources and to estimate the damage on civil property. Troops of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES), Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE), Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Navy, Police and Special Task Force (STF) began the reconstruction work.
