Laid Batta Mines Explode at Mavadivempu, Batticaloa

There was an Army camp at Mavadivempu, Batticaloa which was abandoned by the Army few years back. There was accidental fire at this abandoned Army camp, which activated batta mines laid down earlier in the camp for security. Nearly 15 batta mines reported to have been exploded. There was fire and smoke in that area. Hence, there was tense situation. Transport through that area was suspended for some times.Later  Army came in to the scene and doused the fire.
