Stock of Weapons Found in Mannar

Sri Lanka Army has decided to diffuse the stock of weapons discovered in Mannar in an unpopulated location in the same area.
Sri Lanka Air Force personnel uncovered a buried stockpile of weapons believed to have belonged to the LTTE from the Palamppidi area in the Mannar district yesterday.
Among the weapons discovered based on information received by the Air Force intelligence were 74 mines, 6 mortar rounds, 3 hand grenades, a small bomb and several other military equipment.
The Air Force officials had obtained a court order from the Mannar District Court to dig up the weapons stock and the Mannar District judge and police officers were also present at the scene during the excavation.
Afterwards, the judge had ordered the Air Force officials to hand over the stockpile to the Police for further investigations.
