Dhammaloka Thera at High Court Today

Venerable Uduwe Dhammaloka thera, charged over the unlicensed possession of an elephant calf, will appear before the Colombo Court today.

He appears before court following a notice issued by the Colombo High Court Judge Nishanka Bandula Karunaratne.

Charges were filed by the Attorney General claiming Uduwe Dhammaloka thera illegally possessed the elephant calf without a valid licence an offence that falls under the Fauna and Flora Act while the second charge accuses the thera of committing a punishable offence that falls under the Public Property Act.

19 witnesses have been cited for the complainant while three documents have also been filed.
