The Anti-Corruption Front has decided to file a petition at the Court of Appeal requesting the issuance of a Writ of Quo-Warranto to prevent the reappointment of Arjun Mahendran to the post of Governor of the Central Bank.
Adviser of the Front Keerthi Tennekoon said the petition will be filed at 1 this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided to refrain from extending Arjun Mahendran’s tenure as Governor of the Central Bank until investigations into treasury bond transactions conclude.
Chairman of the National Trade Union Alliance Saman Ratnapriya said Premier Wickremesinghe agreed to refrain from extending the Governor’s tenure during joint discussions with trade unions and civil societies.
