Private Bus Owners Lodge Complaint With IGP Instead of National Transport Commission

The Lanka Private Bus Owners Association has lodged a complaint with the Inspector General of Police over discrepancies in issuing route permits.
Chairman of the Association, Gemunu Wijeratne said, bus owners have been pressurized due to the actions of route permit racketeers, and the private bus industry is deteriorating.
He further, added that  racketeers have sold route permits to Jaffna and along expressways for millions of rupees.
A complaint was lodged with the Inspector General of Police over in issuing route permits and hope a fair decision.
National Transport Commission is empowered to issue route permit to bus operators operating on major high way and expressway routes. IGP has less or no say in issuing route permit to bus operators.
