Fisheries Corp. leases 30 Perch Land to Earn Rs. 30,000 a Month to Pay Staff Salary
During the period Mahinda Wijesekara was the subject minister, the land in question had been sold to a Russian firm, Union Fish.
As the Russian company has not come forward to claim ownership, the incumbent minister and Corporation Chairman, Thusitha Aluthpathiranage has leased out the land to a company.
The cash-strapped Fisheries Corporation has leased out 30-perch land to earn Rs. 1.8 million, reports say.
The Rs. 30,000 a month lease that will be earned from a private firm will be utilized to pay salaries of the Corporation staff in the southern province.
