CB Governor to be Appointed on Finance Minister’s Recommendation

A new governor to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka will be appointed once the recommendation is received from the Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake.

President Maithripala Sirisena will appoint the new Governor in consultation with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe once the recommendation is received from the Finance Minister.

The Government Information Department said the recommendation of the Finance Minister is also required in order to appoint the Central Bank Governor.

Accordingly he will be appointed once the Finance Minister who is presently in Japan on an official visit returns to the country and submits his recommendation.
