Tom Malinowski & Nisha Desai Biswal Visit to Srilanka

US Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Tom Malinowski is scheduled  to visit Sri Lanka and Cambodia from tomorrow to the 20th of July. Meanwhile the Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Nisha Desai Biswal will also visit Sri Lanka this week and will be accompanied by Deputy Assistant Secretary for South Asia Manpreet Singh Anand.

During Tom Malinowski stay he will engage with government officials and local civil society representatives.

He will focus on Sri Lanka’s continued progress in meeting the commitments made during last September’s UN Human Rights Council session and  will also discuss the work that remains in the areas of justice and reconciliation, and confirm that the United States continues to support Sri Lankan efforts to tackle these issues.

Biswal during her stay in Colombo will meet with senior government officials and political leaders to discuss bilateral economic cooperation as well as democratic governance and reconciliation.
