Nisha Desai Biswal to Arrive in Srilanka

US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal is scheduled to arrive in Srilanka  today(12).
The US State Department said Biswal is due to hold high-level talks with senior government representatives and political leaders.
The talks will focus on bilateral economic co-operation, democratic governance and reconciliation. Biswal will be accompanied by US Deputy Assistant Secretary for South Asia Manpreet Singh Anand.
The duo is due to engage in a tour of Bangladesh before arriving in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, US Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labour Tom Malinowski is also due to visit Sri Lanka today.
The US State Department said he will engage with government officials and local civil society representatives during his stay.
US Assistant Secretary Malinowski will focus on Sri Lanka’s continued progress in meeting the commitments made during last September’s UN Human Rights Council session.
He will also discuss the work that remains in the areas of justice and reconciliation, and confirm that the United States continues to support Sri Lankan efforts to tackle these issues.
