Joint Opposition Members are Against Basil Rajapaksa

Accordingly, the Joint Opposition has decided to discontinue the series of public meetings recently launched under the leadership of Basil Rajapaksa.

According to the political sources, Basil Rajapaksa has been side lined from the Joint Opposition by its Members. Several key members of the Joint Opposition have expressed their opposition to the increasing involvement of the Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa, which has led to him being side lined, political sources said.

In the Meantime, the planned protest march from Kandy to Colombo, the ‘Jana Sadhana Pada Yathra’, will be organized by a committee including the former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage. Basil Rajapaksa is expected to make a limited role in this padayatra, political sources said.
