Local Government Polls Under Electoral Voting System – President

President Maithripala Sirisena says the forthcoming Local Government Election will be conducted under the electoral voting system.

The President made this observation during a meeting convened with Sri Lanka Freedom Party seat organizers in Colombo last night.

The President has also reiterated his opposition towards the preferential voting system.

In the meantime , a senior spokesperson of the SLFP revealed that President Maithripala Sirisena during the meeting responded to several accusations leveled against him.

The Head of State has stated former, President Mahinda Rajapaksa who was rejected by the public during two national elections has no basis to form a new alliance.

Former President Chandrika Banadaranayake Kumarathunga was also part of the discussion held at the Sri Lanka Foundation.
