Raid Against Unscrupulous Traders

Srilanka Consumer Affairs Authority has down 750 raids in the country for the last 5 days  to catch  traders,  who sell gazetted 16 price controlled goods beyond the control price. In this raid 350 traders were caught selling goods beyond control prices and case filed against them. Cases were filed in respective region’s Magistrate Courts.

During the last 6 months,  10,162 trade centers were raided and 4.5 billion was recovered as penalty  fees. Consumer Affairs Authority has provided  telephone no 1977, enabling consumers to  lodged  their complains.
