The Kandy Magistrate issued an injunction order against the protest march organized by the Joint Opposition and the campaign to promote membership by the UNP in Kandy Town.

Having considered police complaint, the magistrate ordered the Join Opposition to conduct their protest out of Kandy city limits and the UNP to hold their campaign after 2pm in the afternoon.
Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala also permitted the members of the Joint Opposition to visit the Temple of the Tooth and perform religious rites before they start the protest.
The protest march organized by the Joint Opposition has commenced at Gatambe temple, Kandy this morning (28). A group of joint opposition MPs and other supporters led by former President Mahinada Rajapakshe obtained blessing from Buddhist, Hindu and Muslim religious dignitaries before starting the protest march against the Government.
